Closing your eyes isn't going to change anything. Nothing's going to disappear just because you can't see what's going on. In fact, things will even be worse the next time you open your eyes. That's the kind of world we live in.
The thing about separation of church and state is that it’ll never truly happen until the day that the inscription of “in god we trust” is removed from our currency.
I’m an atheist and I actually like the inscription, but we can never truly say there is a separation until we remove everything religious from our symbols and politics.
As well as, people will continue to vote based on their religious standards, and that’s something we can’t avoid. Somebody who is strongly against gay marriage, using their explanation of “god says it’s wrong” will vote against gay marriage.
So while we say separation of church and state is important, we are all just hypocrites. We’re still blending the lines, and until people change, that won’t change.
